2 Time Award Winning High School
Fort Hayes is the recipient of 2 all-expense paid cultural trips to Japan.
The Kakehashi project. FH students traveled to Okinawa. The goal of the program was to promote deeper mutual understanding among the people of Japan and the United States, enable future leaders of Japan-US exchanges to form networks, and help young people develop wider perspectives to encourage active roles at the global level in the
future.
The Kizuna project. FH students traveled to to help with the 2011 Earthquake/Tsunami
cleanup. On March 11, 2011 the Tohoku region of Japan was affected by the massive earthquake and tsunami that claimed 20,000 lives. Kizuna means bond or connections between people in Japanese, encapsulating the purpose of this project: to allow the public to feel connected to the memory of this tragedy.
